Tips to Change Facebook Add Friend to Follow Button | Convert Friend Requests to Active Followers

Facebook allows a maximum of 5000 friends for each user account. Users who have reached that limit, therefore, can no longer accept nor send friend requests. Moreover, there are Facebook users who do not just want new friend requests, especially from strangers.  The fact here is that most people do not know how turn their friends to followers.

If you are no more interested in receiving friend requests, it is best that you turn your Facebook friend requests into followers. You can as well block both followers and requests but that is not the story of today.

Once your Facebook profile is turned to only followers, the button on your profile will change from Add Friend to Follow buttons as shown above and below.

Here we will show you simple steps to change Add Friend to the Follow button on your Facebook profile to allow people to only follow you instead of sending friends' requests.

1. log in to Facebook

2. Click on the menu icon in the top right corner of the Facebook Home Page.

3. Scroll down the menu to Settings & Privacy.

4. Under Settings and Privacy, select Settings.

5. Scroll down to Audience and Visibility, and select How people find and contact you.

A new window will pop up showing how people find and contact you. Here select Who can send you friend requests?

6. Turn who can send you friend requests from the public to Friends of Friends.

Selecting Friends of Friends means that only mutual friends can send you requests, while strangers can only follow.

7. Go back to no. 5 above i.e. Audience and Visibility.

8. Select Followers and public content.

9. Turn your followers to Public to allow everyone who cannot send friends requests to follow you.

You are done. Your Facebook profile button is now showing Follow instead of Add friends. Now people can only follow you. They can no longer send friends requests unless you send them requests.

10. To see how your Facebook appears to others, go back to your profile.

11. Click on the three dots by the right of your Facebook profile after your profile photo and about.

12. Select view as. Here you can see how others view your profile. The Add friend button is now Follow button.

You can return it to Add friend by simply changing friends of friends to the public in step 6 above.

Tips to Change Facebook Friend Requests to Active Followers with PC

1. On your Facebook profile, select the menu icon by the top right of your profile, often shown as your profile image icon.

2. Under the menu, select settings, and privacy.

3. Now select Settings.

4. Select Privacy by the menu shown at the left of your screen.

5. Select how people find and contact you.

6. Under how people find and contact you, select who can send you friend requests and turn them into friends of friends.

You can go back to your profile. You are done with the settings. You can view how you appear to others using other devices.

When you complete the above steps, people will no more be able to send you friends requests. Can can only be your Facebook followers. The button at the center of you profile will also change from the usual "Add Friend" to "Follow".
