
A tremendous fire has engulfed a skyscraper owned by a telecom company in the Chinese city of Changsha according to reports by the Chinese state media.
The building was erected in the year 2000. It is located near a ring road in the 10-million people Chinese city of Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province, in South-central China.
The 42-story skyscraper which is the regional office for China Telecom caught fire earlier today. Video footage shared across various social media platforms shows a horrific scene of huge flames and gloomy smoke engulfing the multimillion dollars skyscraper, while firefighters struggled to suppress the flames from the 715ft (218m) structure.
People were seen trying to flee the scene while others screamed over the unfortunate spectacle. AFP reports that China Telecom has confirmed the authenticity of the incident. The company recounts that the fire was extinguished by 4:30 pm (local time).
"No casualties have yet been discovered and communications have not been cut off," China Telecom spokesperson said in an interview with newsmen.
The Chinese Authorities also asserted that no casualty had yet been reported and supported that the fire had since been extinguished.
