Trump's Twitter Account Restored by Elon Musk
Trump's account was banned for what Twitter regarded as "inciting violence". Trump was accused of making a post that led to January 6, 2021, chaos at the US Capitol.
The former president's Twitter account @RealDonaldTrump came back to live on Saturday amidst controversial poll.
Elon Musk's Controversial Poll that Decided Trump's Return to Twitter
Elon Musk conducted a decisive poll last week to determine if users needed him to put back the former US president to Twitter. In the poll which lasted for days, most Twitter users voted for Trump's Twitter account to be restored.
Over 15 million people voted in the poll which asked whether Trump's account should be reinstated. About 52% voted in Trump's favor while less than 48% voted against it.
Some Twitter users argued that there was no need to conduct a poll to reinstate Trump who they believe did nothing to deserve the Twitter ban.
In response to the survey which ended in favor of Trump, Musk tweeted, "The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated. Vox Populi, Vox Dei".

Trump Response to His Twitter Account's Reinstatement
During one of his interviews at the Republican Jewish Coalition annual leadership event, the former US president said that he was not interested or concerned about his return to Twitter. "I don't see any reason for it".
Trump also reiterated his commitment to creating his private social media platform known as "Truth Social". The social media app which he is set to launch was developed by Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG).
Trump added that Twitter has a lot of bots and that his Truth Social will be more user-friendly over Twitter. Trump's delay in claiming his Twitter account after making it available has stirred hilarious mimes online. One of the mimes shared by Elon Musk is a mural featuring a sexy young girl seducing a praying man with the caption, "And lead us not into temptation".
Musk Reinstates Other Banned Twitter Accounts and Amends Banning Policy
Elon Musk has also reinstated other Twitter accounts that were "wrongfully banned" by former Twitter executives.
Some of the reinstated accounts include that of comedian Kathie Griffin who was banned for changing her Twitter name to "Elon Musk".
Other accounts belonging to Jorden Peterson and Babylon Bee have also been reinstated.
Musk's New Twitter Policies on Freedom of Speech and "Hate Speech"
Musk's plan for Twitter is to make it a platform where people can clearly say their minds. To avoid hate speech, the social media giant will limit the reach of every post that goes against its policies and will take down posts that promote hatred.
The difference is that every action would only affect the targeted post, not an entire account. Musk compared new Twitter policies with the internet which he described as only bringing out subjects that users search for instead of completely removing them from searches.
