The 2022 FIFA World Cup held in Qatar came to an end on Sunday, December 18, 2022, in a night of jubilation for Argentina, the winning team, and football fans around the world.

While Argentina went home with the World Cup title, France received the silver Medal, and Croatia took the bronze prize.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar is set to be the most lucrative yet, with the winning team taking home a staggering USD $42 million. The second place teams would receive USD $30 million, while the third place winner would received $27million. Then $25m, $17m, $13m and $9m for fourth place, quarter finals and group stage winners, respectively.
All other teams taking part in the tournament were expected to receive a minimum of USD $8 million. This is a substantial increase on the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where the winning team was awarded USD $35 million.
The prize money for the Qatar tournament demonstrates FIFA’s commitment to rewarding the best teams in world football for their efforts. The total prize money for participating teams at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar sums up to a whopping total of about $440 million.
Lionel Messi, the Barcelona star and five-time Ballon d'Or winner, who is widely considered one of the best players in the world, was presented with the golden ball award as the Best Player of the Tournament. Messi was also part of the Argentina team that won the tournament, making him the first player in history to have won a World Cup and an individual award.

Enzo Fernandez, the young Argentine phenom midfielder, was honored with the Young Player award. Born in 2001, the 21 year old Fernandez has been one of the best performing and the youngest footballer of the FIFA World Cup Tournament.
The golden glove went to Emi Martinez. The Argentina goalkeeper Martinez took the Golden Glove for best goalkeeper after saving a penalty from Kingsley Coman in the shoot-out, one of which gave Argentina a win. He had also made numerous saves for Argentina, preventing France for winning against the team.
The awards were presented to the stars by FIFA president Gianni Infantino in a special ceremony to mark the end of the World Cup in Qatar with record-breaking attendance and incredible atmosphere.
The awards were met with great celebration from all three winners, and it was clear that the three players had earned the respect of their peers. Messi, Mbappe, and Martinez are the first players to win individual awards at the FIFA World Cup since 2018.
