Argentina Wins 2022 World Cup After Epic Penalty Shootout Against France

On an incredible final day of the 2022 World Cup tournament, Sunday, December 18th, 2022, the world watched in awe as the World's most talented teams: France and Argentina turned the final game of the tournament into a war cup at Lusail Stadium. In the second half, the two teams remained locked in a tight battle until the the 80th minute when France's Kylian Mbappe took control and scored against Argentina to make the first goal for France in the game. 
In what appeared like a magic, with the help of Marcus Thuram, Kylian Mbappe again scored a second goal for France in less than two minutes after his first goal, an equalizer that forced the match into extra time.

The extra time was also an epic-battle for both sides. In the 108th minute, Lionel Messi, the third goal for Argentina in what appeared to be the end of the match. But France refused to give up. In the 118th minute, Kylian Mbappe again, challenged Lionel Messi through a penalty, ending the match in 3-3 tied score. The referee had no option but to send both teams into penalty shootout to decide the final winner.

In a tense penalty shootout, Argentina became victorious, where they converted all four of their penalties while France missed two through Tchouameni and Coman, and failed woefully to Argentina despite all the tight fight throughout the match. The final scores of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar therefore was Argentina 7-5 France.

The victory marks a historic moment for Argentina, who won their first World Cup title since 1978, second in 1986. 2022 World Cup is the third win for Argentina. The Argentina team was led by coach Lionel Sebastián Scaloni, who has transformed the team into one of the best in the world.

The French team, on the other hand, will have to wait another four years to try and win their third World Cup title. France first World cup win was 1998 and the second in 2018.

If France was able to win this year's World cup tournament, it would have been the third World Cup win for the team and a succeeding victory. The French Coach, Didier Deschamps, will now have to go back to the drawing board and try to find ways to improve the team’s performance in order to bring them back to the highest level.

Captains Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe fought hard on who would become the hero of the night, and it seems both deserve it . While Messi scored two goals during the match before winning the shootout with a decisive penalty kick, Mbappe scored three goals in an heroic performance that changed the course of the match to penalty shootout. Nonetheless, Lionel Messi have the upper hand and emerged the sounding name around the world.

He has taken Argentina to World cup win as a captain and this year's World Cup seems to be the last he will take part as a player. That is the reason the win for Argentina means more glory for Messi.

The result marks a huge victory for Argentina and their fans, who have been waiting for a World Cup title since 1986. The team will now take home the trophy and the overjoyed fans will be celebrating for days to come.
