Morocco's Dream to FIFA World Cup Final Vanishes in 3-0 Loss to France at the Semi-final

Morocco Lost 2-0 to France in FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar

Morocco's dreams of becoming the first African team to make the 2022 FIFA World Cup Final were dashed on Wednesday as they were defeated 2-0 by France in the semi-final of the tournament in Qatar. The French side were the dominant team throughout the match, with two goals from Theo Hernandez and Randal Kolo Muani sealing the victory.

France had the better of the first half, and took the lead in the fifth minute when Theo Hernandez fired home a shot from close range after Kyrian Mpappe’s attempt to score the goal failed. Meanwhile, the goal score was probable because of Morocco’s defense leak due to the loss of the team’s key defender, Nayef Aguerd to injury. He was already named in the line-up but could not make it in the match.

Morocco put in a valiant effort in the second half despite the result, with goalkeeper Yassine Bounou making some spectacular saves to keep the scoreline respectable. However, the Atlas Lions were unable to find a way through the French defence. Thanks to the Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate and colleagues outstanding performance that kept France back wall as firm as iron.

In the 79th minutes of the match, France had it again as substitute Kolo Muani deflected a shot by Kylian Mbappe to score the second goal for the French side inflicting irredeemable loss to Morocco.

The loss is a great disappointment for Morocco who have been one of the surprise packages of the tournament, and huge crowd of fans who had the dream of witnessing a turnaround in the World Cup history. It is the end of the Morocco's dream to take Africa to a world cup final.

They were impressive with their performances in the group stage and the knockout rounds. A loss to France means that Morocco will now be looking to make the third place match against Croatia.

France, meanwhile, are delighted with the result, as they remain on course to lift their second World Cup trophy in Qatar. They will face Argentina in the final.

The final match is going to be a tight game. France is the defending champion of the FIFA world cup after winning the 2018 tournament. Mpape and his team will want to break record for France as the first country for year's to win world cup for two consecutive tournaments. Meanwhile, Messi and his Argentina team can not lose the chance to take home the cup which the team has shown the determination to do. Whosoever will win the prestigious game is left for Messi and Mpape to decide on Sunday.
